Pricing and lot-sizing decisions for perishable products when demand changes by freshness

چکیده

<p style='text-indent:20px;'>Perishable products like dairy products, vegetables, fruits, pharmaceuticals, etc. lose their freshness over time and become completely obsolete after a certain period. Customers generally prefer the fresh aged ones, leading perishable to have decreasing demand function with respect age. We analyze inventory management pricing decisions for these considering an age-and-price-dependent stochastic function. A dynamic programming model is developed in order decide when how much price time. prove characteristics of optimal solution extract managerial insights regarding strategies. The numerical studies show that can lead significant savings static under parameter settings. In addition, longer replenishment cycles are seen compared pricing, even though similar quantities ordered each replenishment.</p>

Pricing Policies for Perishable Products with Demand Substitution

This paper studies optimal pricing policies for a family of substitute perishable products with demand correlation. Potential buyers arrive according to an exogenous stochastic Poisson process. At each demand epoch, the arriving customer observes the set of substitute products for which there is still inventory available together with their corresponding prices. Based on this information, the c...

Ergo-Lot-Sizing: Considering Ergonomics in Lot-Sizing Decisions

One aspect that has mostly been overlooked in traditional economic lot-sizing is the implication of decisions on manual tasks and workload. Although lot-sizing decisions can have a significant impact on required manual material handling and on human performance, works that consider ergonomic aspects in lot-sizing are rare. This paper presents a model that integrates ergonomic aspect in terms of...

Augmenting the lot sizing order quantity when demand is probabilistic

In this paper we consider a single item, discrete time, lot sizing situation where demand is random and its parameters (e.g., mean and standard deviation) can change with time. For the appealing criterion of minimizing expected total relevant costs per unit time until the moment of the next replenishment we develop two heuristic ways of selecting an appropriate augmentation quantity beyond the ...

Optimal advertising and pricing decisions for complementary products

Cooperative advertising is an agreement between a manufacturer and a retailer to share advertising cost at the local level. Previous studies have not investigated cooperative advertising for complementary products and their main focus was only on one good. In this paper, we study a two-echelon supply chain consisting of one manufacturer and one retailer with two complementary goods. The demand ...

Optimal pricing policies for perishable products

In many industrial settings, managers face the problem of establishing a pricing policy that maximizes the revenue from selling a given inventory of items by a fixed deadline, with the full inventory of items being available for sale from the beginning of the selling period. This problem arises in a variety of industries, including the sale of fashion garments, flight seats, and hotel rooms. We...
